Owning the very car used for audio recording for an upcoming game we're excited for is a surreal, yet an amazing feeling!

I was first introduced to Grand Theft Auto in 2009 when a mate of mine let me borrow his copy of GTA IV to play on my own Xbox at home. I instantly fell in love with the New York setting in an open world environment, topped off with an incredible storyline and online multiplayer, where I later met some great people who I still talk to today - friends for life. Grand Theft Auto V dropped in September 2013 which broke global records for being the fastest and best-selling video game of all time.

The next installment in the franchise was announced by Rockstar Games in February 2022, with very little information to follow. It wasn't until September 2022 that we all found out more about the game when a hacker leaked 9+ hours of recorded test footage from the game's development. In November 2023, Rockstar announced that the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated game would drop in early December 2023. Upon early release, the trailer broke world records within its first 24 hours for the most views. The trailer confirmed what we knew from the leaks, with Grand Theft Auto VI being set in Miami and the surrounding Southern Florida area.

We were approached by a party representing a large game developer based in Scotland, asking if they could use our V8-powered American police interceptor for audio recording. We agreed and so they used the car at Millbrook Testing Grounds, with stunt driver Niki Faulkner behind the wheel for the duration of the day. Heavy-duty microphones were attached to the car, inside and outside. Sounds like revs, brakes, doors, tyre rolling, airhorns and sirens were recorded and saved. Following the event, we later found out that the big game developer in question was Rockstar North, the large devlopment studio for Rockstar Games, based in Scotland. Upon discovering this, there was much excitement. When GTA VI releases, you can be sure that our car's sounds will be featured in the game - a game which will be played by hundreds of millions of players across the globe!

As of writing this, there is no confirmed date for the game's release. Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive said in an earnings call that Grand Theft Auto VI is anticipated to release sometime in late 2025. Regardless, I will be pre-ordering a copy to play upon the game's day of release.
