"Oreo" was the name given to the car by us, based on the iconic black & white body colours. Oreo is a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor which is powered by a 4.6 litre V8 modular engine, one of the best ever produced by Ford. The car served as a backup patrol vehicle in a small town called Warminster in Pennsylvania, in the heart of Bucks County, located 13 miles away from Philadelphia. The car began service in January 2009 and retired from service in March 2019. After retirement, the vehicle was exported to the United Kingdom where we took first legal UK ownership. Restoration work began on restoring the car to its former glory, which is still an ongoing project. Throughout our restoration work, mechanical jobs have been carried out and now we are turning to cosmetics, starting with a full body respray. As time goes by, these cars become harder to find, therefore making Oreo more of a unique car every year. It is estimated that there are around 100 former Police Ford Crown Vics in the UK, making this car a very rare sight in public.
Oreo rolls off of Ford's production line at Saint Thomas, Ontario in Canada. Oreo was part of the batch of cars destined for the 2009 model year and was among the first Crown Victorias to feature the FlexFuel engines, adjustable pedals and side airbags as standard.
Following registration in January 2009, Oreo enters service with the Warminster Township Police Department in Pennsylvania. Warminster is a small town with a population of 30k people residing 13 miles away from the big city of Philadelphia. Oreo is assigned with unit number 74-25 which is designated to backup cars for use when the main patrol cars are off the roads for servicing or repairs.
Warminster Park celebrates its 10th anniversary after opening. This event featured local residents and service workers participating. Warminster Police attended for the day, and showed off some of their fleet vehicles. Oreo was featured at this event.
Near the centre of Warminster, a panic alarm was triggered, resulting in a large police response from multiple agencies. Oreo was among the Warminster PD cars to arrive on the scene that day.
Late at night a call was made regarding a male breaking the peace in a local neighbourhood. Oreo and another squad car was dispatched to the scene.
Reports of a fleeing suspect relating to a car jacking in a local neighbourhood. Multiple units responded and were able to capture the suspect. Our very own unit 74-25 was on scene that day.
Police and paramedics responded to a vehicle collision on Warminster's busiest highway. Oreo was on scene.
After 10 years, 120k miles driven and 7k hours idled on the road side, Oreo finally retires from service with the Warminster Township Police Department. Our American agent buys the car at auction on our behalf. The Police Department removed some equipment and graphics from the vehicle prior to handing the car over.
At the start of 2020 the world saw one of the biggest pandemics ever. Lockdowns were put into effect across most countries, which delayed our goal of getting the car road legal. The car wasn't received from the port until September 2020.
A highlight in recent years for us! We took Oreo to Millbrook Testing Grounds for a big incognito client, who we later believed to be Rockstar Games development studio in Scotland. Famous film stunt driver was there to drive our car for the purpose of recording these sounds.
After much time and effort, Oreo becomes road legal on UK roads. After MOT and IVA tests, we could finally move forwards with registering and taxing the car. The British public love seeing this iconic car out in the open.
Now that the car is properly settled in the UK, work began on restoring the car. After a long life of service, the car had many battle scars and excessive wear and tear, as you'd expect from an ex-service vehicle.
This was the first time we'd ever exhibited at a car event. We showed off our car at the monthly all-American car meet at Barton City Airport in Manchester. Many heads were turned when fellow Crown Vic owners showed up alongside us.
After many months of ordering new parts from the US, Oreo is finally healthy again mechanically speaking. New intake manifold, new spark plugs, new ignition coils, new drive belt, and many other jobs done. The car now performs very well.
Coventry hosted Motofest in June 2023, which was a large gathering of cars, bikes and trucks. The city centre and its ring road were exclusively made available to us. We stole the show with a gathering of 38 American police cars, all using lights and sirens. An event that Coventry will never forget any time soon.
Oreo was exhibited at a general car show outside of Chester in July. Being the only police car there, it gathered a lot of attention. By now there must be dozens of TikTok videos out there of our car.
In October, we and many others from the Motofest event met up and convoyed to Cadwell Park Circuit outside of Grimsby. With a leading escort bike, we got to the track without delay.
In December, we participated in the floatation parade for Ho Ho Helsby in Cheshire. We almost stole the show, being the brightest and loudest vehicle there!
In March, we took the car down to the monthly American car meet, hosted by the American Auto Club Northwest. As always, we stole the show!
In April, Oreo was sent in for repairs following a collision in 2023 with a van. Once those repairs were completed, a full respray began. Rust was removed, holes were patched and dents were removed. The existing 15-year-old paint was stripped, ready for a new coat. New replacement graphics will be applied once the job is done.
In May, we took back our car in brand new condition. Complete overhaul of the bodywork included a complete respray, rust removal and dent removal.
Two days following the completion of the car's bodywork, we had the original graphics applied. After personally spending countless hours perfecting said graphics in Photoshop, they were applied to the car by iBrand Signs in Warrington. The graphics are correct in fonts, sizes and positioning... oh and they're reflective!
The biggest and most anticipated event of the year brought 50 American police and service vehicles to Coventry. With our newly installed Rumbler and new bodywork, we stole the show!
